Vivian Todd (she/her) was born and raised in New York City. She is a junior at Barnard College where she is studying Economics with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She sits on the Barnard Student Government Association Representative Council and also represents Barnard to the University Senate. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and going on scenic drives.

Tushar Agrawal (M.S. Data Science ’22) graduated from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani with a B.Eng. in Computer Science. During his undergraduate education, Tushar co-founded ‘Autochain’, leveraging blockchain technology to resolve the trust gap in the used-car market. This has also led to his recognition as an Innovative Individual by the Ministry of Economy in the UAE. Tushar has also worked towards social initiatives such as utilizing deep learning architectures to establish a communication medium for the deaf, and firmly believes that the true essence of modern technology is to employ it in creating solutions that can benefit society. At the Data Science Institute (DSI) at Columbia, Tushar is a DSI Scholar and Socio-Economic team member at HydroDetectus.

Hi! I am Shiva, a current 4th year MS/PhD student with an expected graduation date in 2024. My current research focuses on Ultrasound Imaging, and before coming here, I got my undergraduate degree from Imperial College London (God save the Queen?).
I am an avid biker and a major football fan. When not at work, you can find me at a bar sipping a beer with friends or watching the latest sci-fi/fantasy movie, unless it is Sunday.
I’m also currently the social chair of Graduate Electrical Engineering at Columbia (GEEC).

I'm studying computer science at SEAS. I love outdoor sports like paddle boarding and hiking. I'm so thrilled to be part of the IGB Executive Board. I look forward to doing my best to serve the Columbia community this year.

Sarah Estrada (she/her) is a second-year Doctor of Nursing Practice student, specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health, at the School of Nursing. She is from the San Francisco Bay Area. On campus, she is currently involved in the Columbia Student Service Corps and Vice President of the CUMC IPE Student Advisory Board. 

Sara Shabani, is a 4th-year Ph.D. student in the Physics department. Her research focuses on experimental condensed matter and quantum materials using scanning tunneling microscopy. I obtain atomic-resolution images from the surface of novel materials in particular semiconductors and extract their electronic properties to study various quantum phenomena. She earned her dual undergraduate degree in Physics and Chemical engineering at Sharif University, Iran. Previously, she was an intern in the quantum magnetism lab at EPFL, Switzerland. Currently she represents the Physics department as a GSAS representative in the Arts and Sciences Graduate Council (ASGC) and is an advocate for Ph.D. students in the Physics department.  In her free time, she enjoys running, playing volleyball, traveling, and learning new languages.

I am a third-year dental student at Columbia University's College of Dental Medicine.

After growing up in the mid-Michigan area, I graduated with a BBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in 2019. I currently serve as the Vice President of the Student Government Association, and am an American Dental Student Association Social Committee member, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Club class representative, Teacher’s Assistant for Oral Histology, and I am involved in multiple research projects at the dental school. In my free time, I enjoy working out, playing in recreational basketball and volleyball leagues, and gaming.

Michael Antwi is an MBA candidate at Columbia Business School, he holds a master's degree in Public Health Epidemiology; graduate diploma in Business Management; and bachelor of science with a double major in Medical Sciences and Political Science.

He is an enthusiastic, confident and reliable healthcare specialist with over 6 years of experience conducting big data analytics for health insurers, developing market access strategies for global pharmaceutical companies and conducting public health/epidemiology research for Canada's most renowned universities, hospitals and ministry of health.

He has managed complex business and research projects for an array of stakeholders including governments, multinational companies and not-for-profit organizations. Has experience developing database-connected Power-BI dashboards, project proposals, research methodology, qualitative and quantitative data analysis (using SQL, SAS, SPSS and NVivo) and knowledge translation products (i.e. presentations, academic publications, research reports, infographics, short films).Possesses exceptional organizational skills and superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
 

Malik Javaid (he/him), is from New Jersey, and a sophomore in SEAS studying Computer Science. As the undergraduate SEAS delegate, Malik ensures that SEAS gets equal representation in all matters policy and student life. On campus, he is part of Engineering Student Council and Club Zamana, and in his free time, he likes to read, write, and cook.

Krystal Cruz is a pre-doctoral fellow in the Research Group on Disparities in Health at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Education, Health and Psychology in the Department of Health and Behavior Studies and is graduating in 2022. She studies the biopsychosocial model as a theoretical framework to explore critical racial health disparities related to maternal morbidity and mortality, perinatal mental health and substance use disorders, the influence of neighborhood social conditions and built environmental factors on psychosocial stress and wellbeing during gestation, intrauterine environmental influences across the life course, and global mental health. She is also honored to be the doctoral student of Professor Barbara Wallace (Princeton ’80), her academic mentor, and the first African American woman to move through the ranks and gain tenure in the history of Columbia University, doing so in 1994; her dissertation committee member, Sociomedical Sciences Professor Robert E. Fullilove, Dean of Community and Minority Affairs at the Mailman School of Public Health sowed transformational seeds of inspiration and cultivated a strong conviction within her to conduct research and promote scholarship imbued with liberation theology.

Throughout her academic studies, she has participated in the following extracurricular activities: Chairperson of the Office of University Life Interschool Governing Board; Columbia University Senator serving on the Student Affairs, Libraries and Rules committees; Office of University Life Race, Ethnicity & Inclusion/Task Force on Inclusion and Belonging committee member, Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Students of Color Alliance commencement co-chair, The Roger Lehecka Double Discovery Center mentor, founding member of the School of Education, Health and Psychology’s Diversity and Community Affairs committee; she is also the founding president of the United Nations Association of the United States of America Columbia University-wide Chapter.

Kristen Lawlor is a 5th year PhD Candidate in the Neural Engineering and Control Laboratory of Professor Qi Wang in the Biomedical Engineering Department. She did her undergraduate studies in bioengineering at the University of Maryland, College Park with a research focus in genetics.  Her doctoral thesis research focuses on the neural basis of the sense of touch, and how this information is encoded in certain brain regions within the somatosensory pathway. Outside of her research, Kristen is also the current president of the Engineering Graduate Student Council, which serves the entire graduate student body of SEAS to enrich their experience through academic advocacy, alumni and career events, and community building. 

Originally from Federal Way, Washington, Joshua is a first-year medical student at Columbia Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons who is passionate about promoting health equity. After earning his B.S. in Cellular Biology from the University of Washington in 2018, Joshua conducted basic and clinical diabetes-related research at the NIH as a National Academy Enrichment Program health disparities fellow. Seeking to innovate ways to advance the trainee experience at NIH, Joshua has served as Co-Chair of the Network of African Americans and is a founding member of NIDDK TREaDS (Trainees Recognizing Excellence and Diversity in Science) seminar series. At VP&S, Joshua is in the Brown Scholars primary care program and First-Generation & Low-Income Partnership. He also serves as the 2022 BALSO (Black and Latino Student Organization) President and seeks to enhance the student experience as a Student Representative on the Dean’s Advisory Council. In his free time, you can find Joshua at Free Weight Club, a NYC museum, an R&B concert, or playing basketball with his classmates at 50 Haven.

Dominican-New Yorker currently pursuing a dual degree in Masters of Social Work at Silberman and a Masters of Divinity at Union Theological Seminary. Weaving in tandem eco-mujerista theology, Latinx history and decolonized trauma therapy frameworks, Janay is passionate about how communities embody their ethics, interconnectedness and liberating practices. She serves as the Student Senate Co-Chair for 2021-2022 academic year. 

Hi, my name is Jacob and I’m a second year BME Ph.D. student co-advised by Dr. Alex Dranovsky and Dr. Andrew Laine. My research focuses on using deep learning methods to study how early life stress and aging alter brain-connectivity at the whole-brain level with cellular resolution.
I grew up in the Bay Area, California, and recently completed both my undergrad. and master's in the BME  department at Columbia. Outside of research and class, I’ve been on the Columbia ski club for 5 years and spend time building things as a superuser in the Columbia Maker Space. I’ve also  co-founded a startup, Colonai, that uses deep learning to detect and localize colorectal cancer in colonoscopy videos in order to reduce the miss rate that's ~24% of tumors in current practice and that recently took 1st place in the Columbia Venture Competition Tech Track.

Faith was born in Portland, Oregon, and raised in South Orange County, California. She is studying Computer Science on the Software Systems Track at the School of General Studies and anticipates to graduate in Spring 2024. Presently, she serves on the General Studies Student Council as the Community Services and Sustainability Representative.

Before Columbia, Faith maintained a career as a Freelance Hair and Makeup Artist in the advertising and celebrity industries. In her free time, she takes pictures of her cat Mer, updates her never-ending “home inspiration” Pinterest board, and utilizes her friends’ birthdays as an excuse to bake cakes.

Daniel DeBrucker, a native of Rochester, NY living in Manhattan, is in his final year of the dual degree program at the Columbia University School of Social Work (MSSW), and Union Theological Seminary (M.Div.). Dan is a community organizer who has spent nearly three-decades working in marginalized communities by providing direct service, advocacy, and compassion.  Dan serves as the president of the CSSW Student Union (2021-22), and various campus committees, both at Columbia and Union.  Dan is creating a new worship community in the communities of Bushwick and Ridgewood with a mission to provide a welcoming space for worship, and to address the gaps and needs of services and community to LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults, who might also identify as homeless and/or victims of exploitation.

Colton Klein is a second-year MA student in Art History focusing on American visual culture from the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries with interest in materiality, ecocriticism, and affect theory, and interdisciplinary coursework in American Studies and Film Studies. He is currently the Project Manager for The Marsden Hartley Legacy Project: The Complete Paintings and Works on Paper, the first-ever comprehensive, annotated catalogue of all known artwork by Marsden Hartley, sponsored by the Bates College Museum of Art through a grant from the Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J. Horowitz Foundation. He has previously served as a Curatorial Intern in Prewar Art at the Whitney Museum of American Art, a Havner Curatorial Intern in American Art (Pre-1960) at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and a Cataloguer in American Art at Sotheby's. Colton is concurrently studying Historic Preservation through the Center for Applied Liberal Arts at the NYU School of Professional Studies.

As the Communications Chair for the IGB, I work closely with the Director of Outreach to update the IGB website, including but not limited to IGB personnel directory, organization directory, co-sponsorships, events, governing documents, policies, calendars, and club recognition and funding request forms; brand usage, control and standardization; provide regularly scheduled communications and updates to IGB organizations, delegates, and other constituencies; and co-brand IGB on advertisements for events and co-sponsorship to which IGB funding has been allocated.

Brian Ahn believes in working to make the world a more sustainable place. Originally from Los Angeles, California, he has had multiple experiences that motivated him to pursue his studies in the Adult Learning & Leadership (ALL) program at Teachers College. He participated in the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and is the co-founder of an educational nonprofit called the Semita Foundation. He believes in the power of education and of being involved in the community to make the world a more sustainable place.

Brian tries hard to make a difference in whatever he does. While in AmeriCorps in 2016, he received a certificate of special congressional recognition from the Congressional Office of Loretta Sanchez. At TC, Brian continues to stay engaged by connecting with other organizations and hosting zoom talks about important issues. He helped organize Zoom discussions with Professor Noam Chomsky, a COVID-19 Response Panel Discussion with the U.S. military, TC Public Safety, the Earth Institute, and the Columbia-Harlem Small Business Development Center (CHSBDC), and a talk with Dr. Josephine Kim regarding discrimination faced by Asians in the US. In addition, another Zoom event that Brian helped create was a collaboration with the Climate School, the Earth Institute, Columbia at large, Teachers College, and Barnard College to engage with Prof. Noam Chomsky on the Climate Crisis on October 27, 2021. Brian is a service-oriented person. He believes that everyone can make a difference and he is trying to work to make a better environment not just at TC but in other areas as well.

Brandon Shi is a senior in Columbia College studying Economics-Political Science and Ethnicity and Race Studies. He is from the San Francisco Bay Area. On campus, Brandon represents Columbia College in the University Senate and is deeply involved in the LGBTQ+ community on campus. He is also a student representative to the Columbia College Young Alumni board and a research assistant in the Department of Political Science. In his free time, he enjoys working out and watching historical period dramas on Netflix. 

Alexandria Yao is from Cupertino, California, and grew up training in Indiana and Colorado for figure skating (and competed for Team USA). On campus, she is currently involved in Columbia Mentorship Initiative, Alpha Chi Omega, Taiwanese American Student Association, and president of Columbia Women in Medicine and Tzu Chi Collegiate Association. She is also conducting research on genomic associations at the medical school campus.

I'm Albert Hao (he/him), a sophomore at CC studying Computer Science. I'm from the Bay Area in California. I will work to make sure student groups get equitable representation and adequate funding for important student events. On campus, I'm also involved in Columbia's CC Student Council and University Life Events Council - I’m also on the Columbia Debate Team and enjoy lively discussion about international and domestic events. In my free time, you'll find me biking, reading, cooking, and playing volleyball and DnD.

Aditi Thakur is a second-year JD student at Columbia Law School. She graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 2018 with a BA in Economics. She also recently graduated with an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business. At Columbia Law School, Ms. Thakur serves as the Vice President of Student Senate, Co-President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund, Membership Chair of the Columbia Law Women's Association, Vice President of the Society for Economic Analysis of Law, and Staff Member of the Columbia Business Law Review. Ms. Thakur plans to pursue a career in transactional work at a corporate law firm. 

Adam Gerber comes to SPS after 15 years in theatre and non-profit arts education. Understanding the critical need to acknowledge social inequities, his teaching was rooted in arts advocacy -- providing free-acting training to high school students and bringing live productions to diverse communities that lacked access to the performing arts. As an educator, he developed an immutable work ethic, driven by his desire to form meaningful relationships in which his peers and colleagues rely on him. 

In 2019, Adam leveraged his adaptability, highly-advanced communications skills, and relationship-building expertise, and pivoted to a career in residential real estate sales & rentals. He is a member of The Leibowitz Team at Douglas Elliman — one of the top producing teams company-wide.

With accountability, communication, and empathy, Adam is eager to continue his growth as a human being, with Student Government, his Strategic Communication cohort, and the broader SPS community.

As an international student from Venezuela, Ferdinando saw how community service and cultivating a sense of social responsibility could enhance his country. He felt called by a strong desire to contribute toward problem solving on behalf of Venezuela. Ferdinando is excited to for the opportunity navigate a new socio-cultural environment and to learn from best practices to impart that knowledge to help the quality of life for other individuals within our Global Civil Society.

He believes that the best way to learn how to lead is through praxis and direct engagement with his surrounding community while utilizing a globalized lens via “Think Global, Act Local”. As a United Nations Columbia Leadership Council Member, Ferdinando strives to organize events that promotes Sustainable Development Goal #4: Quality Education to contribute to the intellectual life within our campus community as it relates to raising awareness about diverse cultures and social issues such as: hunger, racism, gender equity, and the environment. He cares very deeply about engendering a sense of community well-being, belonging and inclusion university-wide. As a Leadership Council Member, organizing campus events allows him to contribute toward building a better future alongside one another. He desires to positively influence the next generation of Global Citizens by designing international programs to implement the Sustainable Development Goals in adherence to the 2030 agenda.

Ferdinando is internationally recognized as the Most Distinguished PTK Member; he recently attained a placement as a 2021 All USA Academic Team member (granted to the twenty most remarkable students nationwide), the IAEE Helen Brett Award (affording him recognition as one of the ten most distinguished Exhibitions and Event Management student leaders worldwide); the 2021 Texas Student of the Year, and he is also the recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Scholar Award due to his academic excellence.
