Sara Shabani

Sara Shabani, is a 4th-year Ph.D. student in the Physics department. Her research focuses on experimental condensed matter and quantum materials using scanning tunneling microscopy. I obtain atomic-resolution images from the surface of novel materials in particular semiconductors and extract their electronic properties to study various quantum phenomena. She earned her dual undergraduate degree in Physics and Chemical engineering at Sharif University, Iran. Previously, she was an intern in the quantum magnetism lab at EPFL, Switzerland. Currently she represents the Physics department as a GSAS representative in the Arts and Sciences Graduate Council (ASGC) and is an advocate for Ph.D. students in the Physics department.  In her free time, she enjoys running, playing volleyball, traveling, and learning new languages.
