Kristen Lawlor

Kristen Lawlor is a 5th year PhD Candidate in the Neural Engineering and Control Laboratory of Professor Qi Wang in the Biomedical Engineering Department. She did her undergraduate studies in bioengineering at the University of Maryland, College Park with a research focus in genetics.  Her doctoral thesis research focuses on the neural basis of the sense of touch, and how this information is encoded in certain brain regions within the somatosensory pathway. Outside of her research, Kristen is also the current president of the Engineering Graduate Student Council, which serves the entire graduate student body of SEAS to enrich their experience through academic advocacy, alumni and career events, and community building.
